Applications are invited to make appointments for the post of Coroner for the vacancies that exist in the Divisional Secretary’s Divisions under Section 108 of the Criminal Procedure Code No. 15 of 1979. The list of vacancies and the application form can be downloaded from the www.moj.gov.lk website of the Ministry.

This is not a post with entitlement for drawing a government salary. Coroners will be paid a government-approved fee, approved travelling expenses, and / incorporated allowance for performing an inquest.

Applicants fulfilling the following basic qualifications should complete an application online or a hard copy of the application via the ministry website and submit it to receive it on or before 05.02.2026.

Should have passed in 03 subjects (except General Common Test and English Language) in one sitting at the G.C.E. (Adv. Level) Examination. Preference would be given to applicants with English knowledge, technological knowledge, and who have passed in 03 subjects in the Biology stream at the G.C.E. (Adv. Level) Examination.
Being conversant in the language in which anticipating performing duties
Not being convicted by a Court of Law of any crime other than any offence for which a fine of less than Rs. 10,000.00 could be imposed under the Motor Traffic Act (As could be changed from time to time).

Should not have been dismissed from any post for which appointment was made by the Minister in charge of the subject of Justice.
Should not be serving as a Registrar of Births and Deaths under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act No. 17 of 1951.

Those who are drawing a salary from government, provincial council funds or from the funds of a Local Government Authority, employees of Government Corporations, Co-operative Societies and the members of the Director Board, Members of Parliament and members of Provincial Councils or Local Government Authorities or those receiving a permanent salary of a private sector institution as at the date of closing of applications are not qualified to apply for this post.

Applications with shortcomings and late applications will be rejected without any intimation.
