Applications are invited from qualified applicants for the following posts of the permanent staff of the Marine Environment Protection Authority, which was established under the Marine Pollution Prevention Act No. 35 of 2008. Employment Details:
Performing the duties entrusted to the Authority under the Marine Pollution Prevention Act No. 35 of 2008.
1. Internal Auditor (MM 1-1 – No. of Posts 01
District where the vacancy exists – Head Office (Colombo)
Qualifications
External Applicants (1 or 2 below)
01. Should have a degree in Commerce, Accountancy, Financial Management, Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting, recognized by the University Grants Commission
and
Should have obtained at least 01 year’s experience in a subject field relevant to the post after obtaining the degree
02. Should have passed the Intermediate Examination of a reputed Chartered Professional Institute in the subject field relevant to the post, and should have obtained at least 01 year’s experience in a subject field relevant to the post after obtaining the qualification
Internal Applicants (1 or 2 below)
01. Should have fulfilled the qualifications for the external applicants above
02. Should have completed a satisfactory service period of at least five (05) years in a post in the Finance or Audit Division of the “Junior Managerial” (JM) Service Category
Age:
Should be not less than 22 years and not more than 45 years. The maximum age limit will not be applicable to the internal applicants.
Salary Scale:
MM 1-1: 2025 (Rs. 91,690 10 x 2,480 15 x 3,450 168,240/=)
2. Laboratory Assistant (PL 2) – No. of Posts 01
District where the vacancy exists – Galle Laboratory Qualifications
External Applicants
Should have obtained a Proficiency Certificate at a level not less than N.V.Q Level Two (2) issued by a Technical / Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, relevant to the duties in the relevant subject field.
Internal Applicants (1 or 2 below)
1. Employees of PL – 1 Primary unskilled service category of not less than N.V.Q. Level Two (2) is ensured in a vocational test in conformity with the duties of the relevant post obtained from a Technical College / Vocational Training Institute with five (05) years of experience in the relevant field.
2. Should have obtained a Proficiency Certificate of not less than N.V.Q. Level Two (2) issued by a Technical / Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, relevant to the duties in the relevant subject field.
Age:
Should be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years. The maximum age limit will not be applicable to internal applicants.

02. Date of Qualifications:
Applicant is accepted as qualified to apply for the above service/post only if he/she has fulfilled the required qualifications in every aspect as at the closing date of applications.
03. Nature of Appointment:
This post is permanent. Employees should contribute 10% of their salary to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) while the Authority will contribute 15% to the Employees Provident Fund and 3% to the Employees Trust Fund (ETF).
04. Method of Applying:
1)
Applicants should self-prepare the application in A4 size paper on a single page to consist of Personal details in Page 1, Educational Qualifications in Page 2, Professional Qualifications and Job Experience in Page 3, and Extracurricular Activities and names and contact details of two (02) non-related referees in Page 4.
2) Duly completed applications along with certified photocopies of 2 recently obtained character certificates, Grama Nildhari’s certificate, police report, national identity card, all educational certificates, and certificates of other qualifications, should be sent by registered post addressed to “Chairman, Marine Environment Protection Authority, No. 177, Nawala Road, Narahenpita, Colombo 05” to receive before 26.09.2025. The post applied for should be clearly mentioned on the left-hand top corner of the envelope containing the application. National Identity Card and the originals of all certificates, of which the photocopies were enclosed, should be produced at the interview.
3) If an applicant is applying for more than one post, separate applications should be submitted for each post.
4) Applicants already employed in Government Departments, Government Corporations, and Statutory Boards should forward their applications through the heads of their respective institutions.
5) Applications that are not complete in every aspect, without basic qualifications, without the certified photocopies of the above certificates, and late applications will be rejected without any prior intimation. This Authority will not bear responsibility for the applications lost in the post.
