📝 Examination Mediums: Sinhala, Tamil and English

Applicants must select one examination medium and answer all question papers in the selected medium. You cannot change the selected medium after applying.

🎓 Qualifications for the MSO Open Exam

Requirement	Details
🇱🇰 Citizenship	Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.
🎂 Age	Between 18 and 30 years as at 25 September 2026.
📅 Date of Birth	Born on or before 25 September 2008 and on or after 25 September 1996.
📜 Character	Must be of excellent character.
💪 Fitness	Must possess adequate physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
📚 G.C.E. O/L	Must have passed six subjects in one sitting, with credit passes in four subjects, including Language and Mathematics.
🎓 G.C.E. A/L	Must have passed all subjects in one sitting, excluding the Common General Test and General English.
🗣️ Language Medium	The language in which the applicant obtained a credit pass at O/L must be selected as the examination medium.
⏰ Qualification Date	All required qualifications must have been completed on or before 25 September 2026.

📝 Examination Structure

The examination will consist of two question papers and will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English mediums.

🪪 Candidates’ Identity

Candidates must prove their identity to the satisfaction of the Superintendent of the Examination Hall for every subject they sit for.

⚠️ Important Examination Hall Instructions

Candidates must enter the examination hall without covering their face or ears.
This is required to verify the candidate’s identity.
It also enables officials to confirm that candidates are not wearing electronic communication devices.
Candidates who do not comply with these requirements will not be permitted to enter the examination hall.
Candidates must remain without covering their face or ears from the time they enter the hall until they complete the examination and leave.

📌 Important: If there is any matter not specified in the Gazette Notification, the Director General of Combined Services shall make the relevant decision.

⚖️ Gazette Interpretation: In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala, Tamil and English texts of this Gazette Notification, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
