The Public Service Commission is inviting applications from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for an open competitive examination to recruit 200 candidates to Grade III vacancies in the Sri Lanka Inland Revenue Service (IRS). Selection is entirely merit-based, run through a written examination followed by a general interview.

Examination fee
- Rs. 1,200/-, non-refundable
- Pay online during registration, or
- Pay in person at any Bank of Ceylon branch

Terms of appointment
- Permanent & pensionable appointment
- Three-year probation period
- Must pass the first Efficiency Bar Examination
- Must achieve required official language proficiency
Recruitment Qualifications
Citizenship & character
- Sri Lankan citizen
- Excellent moral character
- Physically & mentally fit
- Must not hold a priestly office
Age limit
- 22 – 28 years as of the closing date
- Up to 35 years for those already in public service
Education
- 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree (min. 3-year study), or
- Qualified Supreme Court Lawyer, or
- Chartered Accountant

Held in the Colombo District in October 2026, across the three papers above — Comprehension, Intelligence Test, and General Knowledge.

General interview
Top candidates by written-exam merit are called to verify qualifications and physical fitness. No marks are awarded at this stage.

Bring a National Identity Card, valid Passport, or Driving Licence to verify your identity in the examination hall.
