Sri Lanka Inland Revenue Service Open Exam 2026

An open competitive examination nationwide to recruit qualified Sri Lankan citizens. Selection is entirely merit-based via a written examination followed by a general interview.

• Age: 22 – 35 years as of the closing date (up to 35 years for existing public service officers).
• Education: Must hold one of the following:
  • 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree (min. 3-year study)
  • Qualified Supreme Court Lawyer
  • Chartered Accountant
• Citizenship & Fitness: Sri Lankan citizen, excellent moral character, physically/mentally fit, and must not hold a priestly office.

Salary Scale: Rs. 82,150 – 195,970 (Scale SL-1-2025)

Terms: Permanent and pensionable appointment with a 3-year probation period. Candidates must pass the first Efficiency Bar Examination and satisfy official language proficiency requirements.

Written Examination (Colombo District – October 2026)

General Interview: Top candidates by written-exam merit are called to verify qualifications and physical fitness. No marks are awarded.

Identity Verification: Valid NIC, Passport, or Driving Licence required at the exam hall.
